If you’re bringing home a new puppy, use our Checklist to help ensure that you have all the basic essentials to keep your new companion secure, healthy, happy and well-trained, and to keep your home environment safe and intact.

You might also consider:

• Clothing
• Footwear
• Temperature controlled bedding
• Doggles.
• Water Safety devices – e.g. Flotation device, pool ramp

Other items to add to your Check-list

• Make appointment with Vet for new Puppy wellness check up and for essential vaccinations.
• Enlist for basic training, socialisation and obedience classes:
    In Sydney's Eastern suburbs, we recommend DogTech.
• Pet Insurance: leaflets and application forms are available at Bowhouse for RSPCA Pet Insurance.
• Ensure that your dog is micro-chipped.
• Register your dog under the Companion Animals Act.

Items readily available elsewhere:

• Old towels and/or blankets for crate
• Cotton balls for cleaning ears
• Nail file, cardboard with sandpaper type, for smoothing nails

And if you're really conscientious...

• Pet first aid-kit
• Hydrogen peroxide - to induce vomiting, if necessary - but be sure that it is well-diluted before administering to pet.
