Most of our customers have found Advocate to be very effective against fleas, even during the epidemic that arose during our last hot humid summer.
However, if you find it is ineffective or losing its effectiveness, you might consider Revolution (Topspot) or Sentinel Spectrum (chews)  instead.

Caution
Use with caution in sick, debilitated or underweight animals.
Advocate has no strong chemical smell.
The liquid vehicle in Advocate may discolour certain surfaces and fabrics, so keep your dogl from contact with such surfaces for 15 minutes after treatment.

Directions
Apply the contents of 1 tube in a single spot between the shoulder blades. 
Puppies can be treated with Advocate from 7 weeks of age..
For control of roundworms and hookworms, puppies need to be wormed at 2, 4 and 8 weeks of age.
When worming puppies before starting Advocate treatment, use a  worming agent like Drontal.
Once your start monthly treatment with Advocate, worms will be continue to be controlled.

Flea control
Advocate has been shown to kill adult and larval fleas within 20 minutes of contact by absorption via the fleas' membranes, and stops fleas from feeding in three to five minutes.
Fleas do not have to bite the animal to receive a lethal dose.
The feeding activity of fleas on pets may induce the hypersensitive skin disorder flea allergy dermatitis: Advocate quickly kills fleas and reduces this condition.
Advocate may be used as the only product for flea control, as it breaks the flea life cycle and kills fleas emerging from the environment to reinfest the dog.

Heartworm prevention
Treatment with Advocate should start one month before the first exposure to mosquitoes.
Advocate must be applied monthly during the time of the year when the mosquitoes which carry and transmit the heartworm larvae are active. In many areas of Australia, continuous, year round heartworm prevention is advisable.
To establish a routine, it is recommended that the same day or date be used each month to administer Advocate.
When replacing another heartworm preventive product, the first treatment with Advocate must be given within one month of the last dose of the previous product.

Intestinal worm control
Advocate controls most intestinal worms except tapeworms, which can be controlled by Droncit or Virbac Tapewormer tablets.
Dogs can become reinfested with worms, but regular use of Advocate will eliminate them.

Sarcoptic mange
Advocate can eliminate sarcoptic mites with a single dose. A second dose a month later will improve results. Monthly application will then control any subsequent infestation.

Ear mites
A single dose of Advocate is effective treatment for ear mites  and continued monthly application will control any further ear mite infestation.

Advocate remains effective after shampooing, swimming or exposure to rain.
