We endorse this Product:
Our own dogs - 2 sociable and active outdoor great danes - have taken Sentinel at the beginning of every month, plus Advantix in the middle of the hot humid summer months when tick protection is vital, and they have never had more than momentary botheration from fleas!
It is normal for dogs to become a little "flushed" on their underside while this product works its magic.
That's why we prefer to administer it at bed-time, after they have been well-exercised, and around subsequent feeding time, when all they want to do is sleep.
Please note that Sentinel acts as a growth inhibitor, preventing fleas from multiplying on your dog.
It is possible for adult fleas to land on your dog and cause it bother, although they will not be able to multiply and cause total infestation.
If this happens, then we recommend Capstar as a fast-acting knock-out of the adult fleas - but you will probably find this unnecessary if you are combining Sentinel with Advantix to doubly protect your dog.

The SENTINEL SPECTRUM 100% Guarantee
SENTINEL SPECTRUM will prevent heartworm and control hookworm, roundworm, whipworm, and tapeworm in your dog(s). In the unlikely event that your dog shows clinical signs of disease caused by any of these worms and tests positive, when SENTINEL SPECTRUM has been administered according to the label and leaflet instructions, Novartis Animal Health will reimburse all reasonable costs incurred in treating those diseases.
SENTINEL SPECTRUM will control flea infestations in your home.
For more information, visit the Novartis web-site by clicking here.
If your dog really doesn't like ingesting tablets, then you might consider an alternative "spot-on" treatment.
We recommend either Revolution or Advocate - both very effective 3-in-1-treatments easily administered by application to the dog's skin around the top of the spine.
And for total protection against ticks and midges, use Advantix topical treatment mid-month.
Note: This product does not control Ringworm:
Ringworm is in fact not a worm, but a fungal complaint.
It manifested itself badly in the warm humid NSW climate that we experienced last summer, and is easily identified by use of the Urine-Free Black Light.
If your dog has ringworm, then we recommend you try Neem Oil shampoo or soap and/or Malaseb shampoo (call 02-9300 9390 to order).
If the problems persists more than a week after treatment, then see your vet.
And it's infectious, so keep your dog away from other animals and kids till you are sure it is cleared up.
